Applicant must be an unlicensed student currently enrolled in an Arkansas State approved Registered Nurse (RN) program AND completed at least one semester in the program ~OR~ Applicant must be a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) enrolled in a nursing program to become a Registered Nurse AND has completed at least one semester in the program
Applicant is required to submit an official, sealed transcript with a 2.5 grade point average or higher from a nursing program.
Reference letters must be included with the application. A reference letter must be written by a school representative and community service leader. Letters will not be accepted from parents, guardians, relatives or anyone under the age of 21. Letters must be typed on official letterhead, if applicable, and physically signed by the person writing the letter.
Applicant must describe specific educational or career plans immediately after nursing school.
The applicant is required to submit with the application a typed, one page essay on the following topic: “As a nurse, how can I improve health and wellness conditions of African Americans in medically underserved communities.”
